Bhopal: State government has spent Rs 100 crore of tax payers for the Amarkantak programme to make Shivraj Singh Chouhan hero before Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleged state Congress president Arun Yadav in a press conference here on Monday. Yadav alleged that the state government has misused the money of tax payers of the state in organising the Narmada Seva Yatra concluding ceremony and inviting the PM for the event on Monday.
He further said that the PM’s statement at Amarkantak that “Those who had damaged river Narmada are trying to conserve it now”. Yadav claimed that the PM had indirectly pointed fingers on the CM for the illegal mining of sand from the river. Yadav informed that the PCC has complained to the PMO about the illegal mining in river Narmada, but it did not take any action on the complaint. “The Congress party will raise the issue in Parliament in next session,” he said
He alleged that the state government has spent Rs 1500 crore on Narmada Seva Yatra in last six months. Government could have utilised the amount in developing roads, drainage system, supplying electricity in rural areas. But the government has spent the money for branding the CM. To meet out the expenses, the state government has cut the ration of poor people and has made illegal provisions to gather crowd for the concluding programme. Rs 500 were given to each person for attending the PM’s programme and the amount is given under some training programme, Yadav alleged.Yadav also condoled the death of three persons in a road accident who were going to attend the PM’s programme.
